Isn\u2019t it weird that in the season where I am seeking financial provision just to get through the month – is the exact time where I am trekking through the book of Exodus, as part of my one-year Bible reading plan through the Old Testament?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Israelites in the book of Exodus make an exit from their lives as slaves under the rule of a Pharaoh in ancient Egypt to ultimately go home, to the Promised land that God promised to their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and be free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe I am also at the same place in my life, where the oppression of past mistakes and people\u2019s actions kept me back from moving forward; I am getting my shoes on and heading home, with home being a metaphor of returning and restoring life or things to their original intended state of existence. (In my case, attempting to return to a place, where in spite of the failed choices in the past, of starting over.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, during the extensive periods of lockdown, we were forced to physically distance ourselves socially from other people to keep us and them safe from contracting Covid-19. I think this led a lot of us to a point where we want to be authentic towards ourselves and to others who we are, but also to start dealing with the stuff we have for so long been dragging along in life, or just swept under the carpet, where the carpet is starting to tower over us, like standing in front of Mount Everest and seeing how small we are in relation to this majestic Himalayan mountain\u2019s peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this home-coming on restoration is not just a temporary dealing with the matter at hand, but rather to get to a point of absolution of yourself and with the resolve not to return to the old way of dealing with life\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes the life out of a person to return to his foolish old ways, just to become like the wandering Israelites in the Wilderness, who wandered for 40 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book of Proverbs puts it this way:
\u201cLike a dog returning to its vomit, a fool returns to his foolish ways<\/em>.\u201d
Proverbs 26:11<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we truly want to make a difference in the world, one of the first steps we have to take is to let go of the toxic, unhelpful cycles in life that is not taking us forward to where we ought to be, or to what we are becoming – our aspirations and dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For some of us, this will mean to, maybe, unpack that closet or drawer that you have been putting off for so long. Others might have to get rid of friendships on social media or in person, with people in our world that might be a burden for us mentally – that prevents us from moving forward into the things that God has in store for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

True healing and wholeness can only come when we get to the part of authenticity when we peel all the layers back, and let the true self shine through. It is only in being vulnerable that true healing and restoration can happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know that the past year and a bit was tough on everyone, but I believe that it is indeed in this season that God wants to restore the broken ones – of which I also count myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So my prayer to everyone reading this, whether you believe in the concept of God or not, is that He will touch you in a way that you would know that He is speaking to you in a way that is very personal and right where you are at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

May God bring peace to your anxious heart and bring revelation to you that He likes you no matter your past.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
