\u201cWoe to me! I Cried\u201d  I am ruined for I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King – The Lord Almighty\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said \u201c See this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sins are atoned for\u201d\u201d – Isaiah 6:5-7 (NIV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been a struggle for a very long time accepting the fact that God has forgiven and accepts me, in spite of my numerous past mistakes and failures. Recently we had a Zoom Online gathering with all of the Hillsong Africa Creative Team where one of the amazing leaders of Hillsong Africa<\/a> spoke encouragement into our lives – even as we are still socially distancing during the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her encouragement, she spoke of a revelation she had had at an evening college class she led a couple of years ago, where she saw the image of a closed door, with the only doorknob on her side of the door, and with the presence of God seeping through the edges of the door and through the keyhole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A voice stirred in her heart as to be the one opening the door, as the verse in Revelation 3:20 came to mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLook! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. (NLT)\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I previously denied myself walking through the door, maybe because of my self-awareness of my past mistakes and shortcomings. Many times I pleaded with God to help me with the cloudiness caused by my past guilt and shame, and lies that I was dragging along – even though I was deceived to be thinking that it is as it is, and I just have to carry this burden by myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though I am hauling the stuff along, I found myself in a conundrum: How can I speak of God\u2019s Goodness in my life whilst I am dragging all this stuff along? It was at that point that I felt a tingle at my lips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tingle of my lower lip immediately caught my attention, and at that point I was brought into remembering the verse of which I started off the blog entry with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first revelation I got in reflecting on these verses in Isaiah, was that the only share I have in being set free from my sin and shame, is acknowledging that Jesus is the only way I can be set free from that to be in right standing (made righteous) in the eyes of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore I realized that the process of sanctification (to be set apart; become holy in God\u2019s eyes is not a once-off even like Salvation (when you accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord in your life).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why I think it is so important to reflect upon Salvation and Sanctification was the fact that it is so easy to get confused with the two when you are new to the Christian Faith-journey. Even I have been caught confusing the two – not as much as not being able to distinguish between the two concepts, but allowing my past mistakes entrap me, doubting my salvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why this verse spoke to me on such a personal level. In order to move forward in all that God has within His will for me for my life, I had to be reminded that all my past guilt, sin and shame has been dealt with when Jesus sacrificed His life as the Atoning Lamb for all of humanity –  even when they are yet to believe in Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This revelation changed my whole trajectory as I no longer have to carry my past guilt and shame with me, but also becoming all that God wants for my life is an ongoing process and that only through His Power and Presence being present in my life, through the Holy Spirit living in me, that I can walk forward into my future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you find yourself in the same place as I did when it comes to doubting your salvation, I pray that you may have the assurance and peace that only Jesus can save us from our sin, guilt and shame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
