It\u2019s been over a year since I last published a blog entry.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, I had a concept for a blog entry, \u201cReasons for Seasons\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blog entry never came to fruition, mainly because of South Africa abandoned all the imposed lockdown regulations, implemented during the Covid-19 Pandemic by mid-2022, and that life went back to some form of normalcy. (This led me to not spend as much time blogging as I wanted to, but I believe that it is not coincidental that I picked up blogging again.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, I do feel that since 2023 is still a fresh new year, with only about half of January 2023 passed, the time is still right for something pertaining to a new year and new beginnings (and still tie in somehow to the concept of \u201cReasons for Seasons\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n

You would be surprised to know that for the most part, the prologue to this blog entry, found itself in month three or four (June \/ July 2020) of the lockdown imposed in South Africa, after the first cases were reported in March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this stage, most were optimistic that the pandemic, like the flu, would meet its demise soon, however, this was not the case, as we would learn soon enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With lockdown restrictions imposed, churches, like the one I attend, turned to online services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because we did not have in-person gatherings due to the lockdown restrictions, it also meant that I, after a short period of time, felt edgy, from not being able to serve in my church in the capacity I would have on the Creative Tech team of the church, and that also led to eventually me starting to blog again, just to find some form of a creative outlet during these months of lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During that time, I felt like I wanted to somehow get involved with the online church tech team, however because of very specific regulations around movement during the lockdown period, that opportunity never presented itself, not knowing that in 2022, I would find myself again at the very same door of opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, I have mentioned that during 2022, many of the lockdown restrictions were lifted, as the severity of the virus and the pandemic withered over time, and vaccines became available, to ready the immune system against possible infections by the virus and its variants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was during this time, that I had to fill up my car with petrol, and although I was wearing a mask, it seemed that a lot more people had stopped wearing masks in outdoor spaces and in public; I would learn from the petrol attendant who filled my car with fuel (in South Africa, the fuel stations have someone that does the filling up for you), that during the previous night\u2019s news conference, the Health Ministry of South Africa had lifted the ban on the wearing of masks in public spaces and indoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the very same time, larger public indoor gatherings, like church services and other church gatherings, were allowed again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On one occasion in June 2022, we had a bible study one Thursday night for all the creatives. During the brief interval of the first and second sessions of the bible study, I had a conversation with one of the church staff members about how our church location in Sydney started streaming the Sunday services live on Sundays again, after their restrictions were lifted and that if we did the same eventually here in South Africa, I would love to be part of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She suggested (with excitement in her voice), that I speak to her husband afterward (I became acquainted with them both in 2017 when I first joined the Creative Tech team), as they were at the point of starting to get everything together for live broadcasting of the morning services in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2022, we started with the live broadcast of the morning services, and since then there were a couple of Sundays since then, I was allowed the opportunity to be the Broadcast Audio Engineer for those Sundays and am still able to grow in my skillset as Audio Engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That led to where I had to stand in front of a fork in the road, to return to the church location in Cape Town where the online streams are broadcasted to the streaming platforms, from where I was previously volunteering in the Stellenbosch location of the church I am part of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The start of a new beginning for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are several things that stood out for me in stepping into this season of new beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first is that doors that do not open immediately do not always mean that they are meant to be shut and that\u2019s the end of the story. In my situation, I encountered the door in 2020, which was shut at that time. However, I am convinced that God, true His character of being Gracious and Omniscient, brings into being the right conversations and right people at the perfect, God-ordained time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another valuable lesson I have learned in the process, (and mainly because of seeking the counsel of many wise people), is like in the time of God\u2019s chosen people, the Israelites (who would become the Jewish nation), would set up camp when the Cloud, by day, and the Pillar of Fire, by night (the manifestation of God\u2019s Presence among His People) would rest of on the tent of gathering \u2013 the Tabernacle. When the Israelites are meant to move on, the Cloud and Pillar of Fire would go before them (Numbers 9:15-23).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like the Israelites, for a season, I had to set up camp, but I believe that during 2022, the Cloud and the Pillar of Fire started moving again, and that was also my sign to get up and get going after all that God has for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It became clear to me at the beginning of November 2022 that when I felt an unease in my spirit, it was the Holy Spirit prompting me that \u201cit was time to break up camp\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The moment I started moving in the direction of where God\u2019s Spirit was leading me, it became clear that certain events that transpired during that time, and conversations I had at that stage with people, culminated in me having perfect peace in the next steps ahead and being confident in my next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The Journey in accordance with God’s will is a tension of being dependent on Him, every moment of every day, for the journey ahead, and living in a relationship with God.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Philippians 4, the Apostle Paul, who at that time was imprisoned, and possibly in the final months (or weeks) before his execution by the Caesar (Emperor) of Rome at that time, wrote in this chapter, a final encouragement to the Christians in Philippi, \u201cto be joyful and rejoice in the Lord always\u201d (Philippians 4:4-5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Paul meant by that, was that despite the circumstances they are facing, the joy of the Lord is always near, as they knew that even in persecution and death itself, we are victors, because of our victor, Jesus Christ, who overcame sin and grave, and has taken back the authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the church was encouraged not to be anxious, not to have feelings of unease, and not to be at rest, but to bring their prayers and petitions to God (again, living in a relationship and full dependence on Him to lead the way in our lives).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For He will give rest (peace of mind \u2013 a state of rest for your mental rationalization of everyday circumstances and life), that surpasses all human intellect or knowledge. God invites us daily to ask, \u2018What Next Papa?\u2019, because of the new life and new beginning we have in Jesus, who came to overcome Sin and Death\u2019s sting forever \u2013 the thing that separated us to live in a whole relationship with God. Because we are now spiritually alive in Christ, we can live in that perfect peace (place of perfect rest), that Paul talks about, in all aspects of our lives, including stepping into new beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last thing I came to realize is the importance of having a community of people that you can be part of when stepping into a new beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(This in itself, connects to the other two aspects that I have spoken about \u2013 operating and moving in accordance with the Will of God, as well as having perfect peace of taking the step into the new season.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a way, to have a relationship with God and to operate within His Will, is an outworking of the communion we have with God.  At the same time, we ought to build community and be in community with people here on earth, as it has already been established in the heavenly realm, where God is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am convinced that stepping into the new season that I have stepped into, would have looked a whole lot different if I did not have the community of people around me to cheer me on and encourage me when my courage seems to be lacking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just recently, I noticed on social media that a married couple that I have known for a while, are resettling again in the same city they first met, after they, in the years since they met, got engaged and married and had children, lived in other parts of South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An immediate observation I made was that the people who made a comment on their post on social media, where they mentioned resettling, wished them all the best for the season ahead of them. Because of a community of people around you, resettling is less daunting, knowing with their new beginning, there would be people to support them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the context of many modern churches, soon after starting attending a specific church, people are encouraged to get involved in the church community, not just in the corporate gathering on Sundays or when church services are held, but also to gather with a smaller but intentional group of people, and through that build church community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In closing, I am reminded of the following lyric from a song that I recently listened to, which just reminded me, that all beginnings are ordained by God with the intention to outwork His perfect will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
